      Colloquio

      I started by applying online. I used to live at a JCH property and that's where I got the idea to work for them. Shortly after applying (I think the next day) I was contacted by our recruiter to set up a phone screen. The next step was an interview with a Community Manager. They didn't think I was the right fit for that specific team, but they did have me interview with another Community Manager. That fit was much better ( and I agree looking back) so they moved me on to an interview with the Regional Manager via Zoom. After that was a Zoom interview with the top two executives of the company. Although this was intimidating, they were very welcoming. And I'm glad that the executives are involved in the hiring process. The next day, I was offered the position!

      The question that stuck out the most to me was asked by Charlie, who was a Senior VP at the time and is now the CEO. He asked me to tell him about a time that I have done something funny and embarrassing at work, as well as sharing a story of his own. I think that was a great way to break the ice, because when you're interviewing with someone at the top of the company, it can be very intimidating. That was a question that really helped to humanize everyone and put us all on the same level.

      The hiring process is long but rewarding. You will start with a phone interview with the HR department. You will then meet with the team you are working with, managers and regional managers. From there you should be meeting with a corporate executive, followed by John Hart himself. If you are excited to work for the company you will be hired. The company prides itself on its core values and every employee does as well. An employee has to be committed to bettering themself at all times. Meeting with John, my experience, is both rewarding and disappointing. It’s great to see a CEO care for a company so much, he is invested when taking an employee on board. Almost like a father before he welcomes you to a family. However, where there is tremendous respect for this fact, comes the disappointment. It still upsets me remembering that my initial time meeting him, and every meeting since, he is either on his cell phone or it is ringing. If his phone rings while he interviews with you, stay confident in your abilities to provide for his company, and hope he eventually leaves his phone in his office during all of his meetings.
