Colloquio
-Phone interview with fairly generic questions
-Invited to Fellow interview day at school site, given pre-work readings
-Had the opportunity to observe and meet teachers/children before the process began
-Watched a short video and had the opportunity to ask questions about the organization
-Got some coaching from the building head and had to prep and teach a brief sample lesson to building leaders and recruit staff (playing children) based on the coaching, then received feedback and had to re-teach the lesson
-Group discussion about pre-work articles (issues of equity, race, class in education)
-Written assignment -- take a 4th grade standardized test and write about what skills children need to know to complete it
-2 individual interviews with building leaders: questions like "what was one time you made a mistake and learned from corrective feedback," "what was one time you felt frustrated at work and how did you handle it," "what would you do in x situation [difficult child, disagreement with co-teacher, parent impossible to contact]."
All-in-all, a thorough process, and good communication throughout.

The interview process consisted of an online application, a video interview, a group interview day; which consisted of a 4th grade MCAS test reading, writing and math, a mock reading circle, and 5 minute speed dating style interviews, reference checks, and lastly I had a random impromptu phone interview.
It took a long time (2.5 weeks) before I heard back that I was no longer moving forward in the process. I found that to be very unprofessional because their application/ interview process has many gaps of time inbetween each step.
I also found my very last interview which was a impromptu phone interview to be unannounced as it was never specified it was a phone interview with multiple people.
Overall, my interview experience was neutral I do however believe they need to streamline the process as it convoluted. There is also no real flow to the process making it confusing to know what step of the process you are on; even though on their website they have “Application Process/Timeline”. However, they did not adhere to the process/timeline often doing steps out of sequence.
3 days after receiving a rejection email I was sent a link to do a survey on how they could improve. The very last question is to refer another teacher; i find that to be absurd that they would show no regard to ask for my help in recruiting for them after sending me a no offer letter. This shows that KIPP has little to no understanding of personability.

The interview process was very extensive. I was found by a recruiter for a teaching position, but upon the first interview, which lasted 45 minutes, I was told I was being looked at for a fellow position. A week later I had an in-person interview with the school leaders and a teacher at the school. I had to take an hour long exam, do a mock lesson plan, which needed to be done ahead of time, and interview with each person for a 10-15 minute interview each. I felt that the day had gone very well. Everyone was very nice and I felt very comfortable the entire morning, which lasted over the expected 3 hours. I was told I would be contacted within 2 weeks and one week later I heard back that they did not want to continue with me.

What would you do if a student wasn't paying attention in class (and then multiple scenarios following)?
