Applied through campus website, received a preliminary call following day, requested sample work and transcripts though I already provided it twice. Received not-interested email a few days later. Two days after that they left a phone message saying that they had an offer for me. I left a voice mail but they never responded back.

It was pretty simple for me. I had a reference from someone who currently worked at Kiewit. I had a foot in the door because of this. I can't really speak on how difficult it would be if I didn't know someone who worked there.
