      Colloquio

I applied for the position through their career portal, and the entire process spanned approximately four weeks. In comparison to some other companies, it appeared rather lengthy, consisting of roughly seven distinct stages: an initial screening call, an IQ online test, an online coding assessment, three one-hour interviews (each focusing on technical, behavioral, and systems design aspects), and a team fit evaluation. The extensive nature of this process raised some questions about the company's hiring strategy and whether they had a clear understanding of their ideal candidate profile. Additionally, it seemed counterintuitive to schedule all the interviews simultaneously rather than conducting them sequentially. This approach left little room for candidates to address any feedback or learning from one interview to the next, as a single failure in any of the interviews meant exclusion from further consideration for the position.

      Domanda 1

Systems Design: A checkout widget, you are provided with the components architecture. Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite un'altra fonte. La procedura ha richiesto 2 mesi. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Klarna (Berlino) nel mese di set 2019

      Colloquio

I interviewed for Javascript engineer position for Klarna Berlin office. Klarna had below stages of interview: 1] Two different tests, a] Logic test of images and predicting which image comes next (multiple choice) b] Javascript coding test comprised of three questions (unlimited time) 2] Two interviews in second round, a] (Tech skills interview) Live coding algorithmic exercise of a problem in javascript (45 min) b] Attitude interview (30 mins) 3] Final interview comprising three rounds as below: a] 15 mins logic test (same test as stage 1 (a) where you have to guess which image pattern comes next after seeing series of pattern as a part of multiple choice questions) b] 30 minutes discussion with "Senior Engineering Manager" c] 90 minute architecture interview The HR's attitude from day 1 was very condescending and had no respect for the resource efforts or time. If you think the least you expect in any interview is at-least respect for your time then please read-on to know why I am telling this. After I spent a weekend completing stage 1 interview over the weekday I got the feedback over the next few days that it was cleared and when I was discussing with HR when to schedule the next interview then he said that the development team has no time to conduct the interview for next 1.5 months at my preferred time slots because they are already interviewing other people. I tried to be flexible with them simply because I already had invested time and efforts in completing the coding exercise but the HR said that if he is able to find a slot with the interviewers then only he will book slot so I am free to interview at other places as Klarna can't do anything. This was unbelievable to hear inspite of being fully flexible with them regarding the timings. So I kept on following and requesting them to give me absolutely ANY slot for 3 hours during weekday and then luckily (as per HR) I got the slot in 1.5 week just for stage 2 round. Stage 2 round was cleared then they scheduled last stage round. Stage 3 (last round) went extremely well as I have close to 9 years of experience so I was already good with architecture and its discussions and also build a sample pseudo service and showed them how it can be production ready. After 4 days of follow up the HR came back and said that all the feedbacks were extremely positive and the interviewers liked my candidature but I had scored a bit low on their logic test of images (where I had to predict which image was next MCQ). They did not even gave me my score but literally said that 5 technical rounds were perfectly fine but 1 LOGICAL image pattern test was not so good and so they are rejecting my candidature. I have absolutely no problem with job application rejection as it is part of the process but by giving an absolute illogical reasoning for rejecting and no importance on technical tests, even with good feedback, and only focus on image recognition I felt like they wanted to reject for ANY IMPRACTICAL reason and so after almost 1 month of interviews this is what it boiled down into. I was very disappointed for the vague reason they gave me for my rejection and I felt that I wasted my 1+ month interviewing for a company who was not only condescending right from the start but after all the efforts put into it rejected for literally a stupid game instead of focusing on coding/technical/personal experience. I would have more than appreciated any feedback on technical tests but as per them that part was fine. Any candidate who aspires not only to get into a good company but also wants to join a company who respects, is honest, is credible and values important aspects of interview should not waste their time interviewing for this company where the chances are you are gonna be very frustrated by they way they handle interview and possibly reject for ABSOLUTELY VAGUE reason inspite of all the efforts and positive interviews and feedback.
