The experience with the interview process was disappointing and poorly organised. I was initially notified about an opportunity to schedule a video interview, which was then rescheduled for the following day due to the hiring manager being unwell. The next day, I was informed that the hiring manager was still unwell, and the interview would need to be postponed until the start of the following week. I wished them well, understanding that these things can happen and was assured we would connect soon.
However, the hiring manager did not confirm the interview date as promised. I reached out on the morning the interview was supposed to take place, only to learn that it would be postponed again. I wished them well once more, staying understanding of the situation.
A few days later, I received an email stating that the hiring manager had returned to the office and was available to connect either the following day or at the end of the week. I promptly responded, confirming my availability for the following day. Despite this, the day came and went with no confirmation or communication, leaving me feeling ghosted despite being referred through an organisation working with Kobalt.
Overall, the lack of communication, repeated rescheduling with little notice, and the disruptions to my schedule left me feeling undervalued as a candidate. While I empathise with the challenges of illness and busy schedules, a more structured and respectful approach to candidates’ time would significantly improve the interview process.
