      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto una settimana. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Kognitiv Inc. (Toronto, ON) nel mese di nov 2025

      Colloquio

I went through their interview process recently, and the experience was honestly disappointing. My first call was scheduled for 45 minutes. The recruiter masterfully used about 40 of those minutes to tell me his entire history, employee census, vacation schedule, and weather patterns of the company. It was essentially a one-man podcast episode with me as a live audience member. If you’re looking for an interview where the company rigorously evaluates your background, skills, and potential fit — this is not it. If you’d prefer to sit quietly while someone gives you a verbal documentary about their employer, this might be the most luxurious experience you’ll ever have. To call it an interview would be generous. It was more like: • 1% questions about my experience • 99% extended monologues about: • The company’s NPS score • How many employees they have this exact week • Personal vacation recaps • A full origin story of their partner ecosystem • A detour into someone’s kid learning Russian • A restaurant in Texas that allegedly serves “authentic Canadian diner food” At one point, I referenced something relevant to my background, and the recruiter immediately pivoted back into another 10-minute story about a former employer from 2014. Riveting. By the end of the 45 minutes, here is the complete list of what the recruiter actually extracted about my professional experience: • The name of my previous company • How long I worked there • Something about previous partner I worked with at my previous role (which he also turned into another monologue) That’s it. No questions about skills. No questions about metrics. No questions about achievements, fit, motivations, challenges, or strategy — literally nothing you’d expect from an actual interview. If I disappeared mid-call, I’m not entirely sure the recruiter would’ve noticed. And then the assessment… After that call (which supposedly went well), I was sent an “assessment” that turned out to be nothing more than two pages of adjectives. • Page 1: pick the words you think coworkers would use to describe you • Page 2: pick the words you’d use to describe yourself That was literally it. No job-related scenarios. No skills testing. No experience-based questions. Just a list of adjectives like “dependable,” “flexible,” “likable,” etc. A few days later, I received a message saying: “The scores did not align for them to move forward.” I genuinely have no idea how this assessment was supposed to reflect anything about my actual abilities, performance, experience, or fit for the job. It felt disconnected from reality and completely irrelevant to the role. Honestly, I’m not sure if this was just a ghost job — a role they aren’t actually planning to hire for — and the employees have to go through the motions so it looks like they’re “doing something.” Because the rejection was based on absolutely nothing. They didn’t ask me anything meaningful, didn’t evaluate me, and didn’t gather the information needed to make the decision they claimed to make. Whatever the reason, the process didn’t give me any confidence that they know how to assess talent or run a legitimate hiring cycle. It felt performative, disorganized, and ultimately a waste of time.
