I first applied to Kohl's on snagajob.com for seasonal help cause I saw they were hiring. I got a call about a week later to set up an interview, which happened to be a couple weeks after the call. And today was my interview.
I arrived prepared with a notepad, pen, and resume in hand. I also had prepared with my answers for the past few days. This helped a lot in being calm and collected during the interview!
The lady was very, very nice. Started out with a greeting, casual conversation and she asked if I brought my resume. I gave it to her and she looked it over. She saw that I was studying culinary arts in college and suggested that I apply to a list of restaurants she gave me because she felt that would be more beneficial to me. However, if I was hired, she would accept me as a cashier for more experience and 'cause unloading a truck would be no fun.
She also said that there is a requirement to sell the Kohl's card and you have to be pushy but not too pushy. If you're not comfortable selling them, you can't work at Kohl's. And it is a definite requirement to work Black Friday, or else you won't get the job.
The job interview questions started out with her asking "Why Kohl's?" and then conforming the rest of the questions to my experience I had already. She asked about my jobs and what my responsibilities were and then went on from there. In all honesty, I kind of blanked at a couple of the questions and she was helpful to assist me in coming up with good answers based on my experience. I felt bad for that, however, it seemed she wasn't too put-off by it. She was funny and relaxed during the interview, which helped. And in the end she went over the pre-employment papers, which I still have to turn in. She asked for two weeks of time after I apply because she has a lot of background checks to do, before I hear back from her.
I think I did well and hopefully things will work out. Overall, it was a pretty easy interview.
