      Colloquio

I applied through an ad that I saw on LinkedIn. A week later I was contacted by a corporate recruiter to schedule phone interview. The phone interview lasted about 30 minutes. She went over my background, asked what I was looking for in a new job, and told me a little about the company. Then she sent me a link to a DISC behavior assessment online, so they can test to see if I fit their mold. The next day I received an invite to have a face to face interview in a Sales Office inside of the local residential community where this position was based out of. I was originally scheduled to have a a late afternoon interview, but the local sales manager called me that morning and asked if I could come in 4 hours earlier. I had a feeling that this might be a possibility, so I had already blocked off my schedule for the entire afternoon, and it worked out for the better. The interview lasted a little over an hour. I walked into the room, and there was a sales manager from another nearby community sitting at a desk for the interview. The recently hired local sales manger observed the interview sitting on a couch behind me while sitting next to the VP, and another sales rep. The manager who conducted the interview started with about a 5 minute spiel about the company, their core values, and a little about how their top sales reps are rewarded. He then asked if this sounds like something that I still want to pursue, and I confirmed my interest. Then he asked me basically the same questions that I had answered on the DISC behavior assessment. I always answer those test the exact same way, so I had no trouble telling him my answers that should've very closely matched my previous answers. I think they just wanted to see if you had answered honestly on the original assessment. Then he went through the typically STAR format interview which I was prepared for. Then he asked if I had any questions. I had come prepared with 5 solid questions showing my interest in the company, how I want make more $, and I asked them in the future tense showing that I see myself there. "How well versed should I be in 6 months in regards to the sales process". "How long is the training, and when will I start" ? "Is there any reason why you think that I would not be successful at this job". They brought back up the fact that I'm not use to giving up my weekends with the family. I finished up with a "close" stating that I can see myself being successful, at this job, and a weekend making money is the best type of weekend . They all thanked me for my time, said they will be in touch soon, and asked me to write down 3 references. The same day I received a text from a former coworker stating that he had given me a good reference so I know they did call them. The local sales manager called me the very next day, and said the he needed to see my tax document, which during the interview they had asked me if this would be an issue, and I said that it was ok. I had been asked this by employers before, and I know they just want to verify your current income to see that you are a highly commissioned sales rep. During the time which I started to gather my tax docs, the more I thought about it, I was not sure if the company was the right fit for me. I emailed a letter to sales manger thanking him for his time, and withdrawing my name from consideration. The company really is great organization, but the job, and industry was just not my cup of tea.

It's been a long time since you have had to work weekends in a sales environment. We feel like this might be a difficult change for you. How do you feel about that?

      Colloquio

First contact other than email was a Zoom meeting. If you're not used to seeing yourself on a screen it's very uncomfortable and in my case didn't represent my personality at all.
