I applied for a position at La Ligne in August but didn’t receive a response until I began working with a recruiter, who helped initiate an interview with them in October. During our initial conversation, they emphasized that La Ligne places high value on culture fit, specifically favoring candidates whose resumes reflect experience with similar 'cool' brands. While I totally understand the importance of culture fit and personal presentation, the way this was framed suggested that alignment with a particular 'image' or a narrow set of experiences was prioritized over relevant skills or experience — coming across as overly image-focused and somewhat exclusive. Despite this, having more than enough experience with contemporary luxury brands, I remained confident and open-minded and expressed full availability to meet. La Ligne scheduled an in-person interview for the following week, with reassurances that the team was excited to connect. However, just hours before the interview, I was informed that it had been canceled, and they had simply 'found someone else.' This last-minute cancellation (especially after I requested time off to meet them in person) felt unprofessional and raised further doubts about the company’s lack of organization, priorities and values. Overall, the experience left me with the impression that La Ligne places more emphasis on a narrowly defined 'aesthetic', rather than on talent or experience. It felt as though I was being judged based on my brand associations, assumptions or surface-level qualities before I even had the chance to meet the team. This may limit the brand’s potential to grow and innovate... just some food for thought.
