I invested a lot of time and effort into the presentation and submitted it on time. A few days later, I received a rejection with the explanation that my work "didn’t show depth in the insurance world" - which I understand, as I don’t come from an insurance background. That said, it would have been more fair and efficient to assess that earlier in the process, rather than after a demanding take-home task. The experience felt like a waste of time, and the process lacked respect for the candidate’s effort. If deep industry knowledge was a deal-breaker, it should’ve been addressed upfront. I hope the company reconsiders how it screens for role fit before asking for heavy take-home work.
