      Colloquio per Business Development Manager

      Colloquio

I was connected to the recruiter through AngelList, initially for a role as a Product Manager. After an initial phone screen, I had two phone calls with current PMs on the team, after which I was invited on-site to conduct several interviews and present on current trends in custom audience advertising. I received a voicemail on my way home asking for my references. In fact, one of my references mentioned that the LR recruiter told her I would most likely be receiving an offer. Several days later, I received a call from the PM hiring manager; enthusiastically, he stated that I would be an excellent fit for the organization and was "excited to have me on the team", but believed I would be better suited for a role on the Business Development team. Soon after, I had a brief phone conversation with the hiring manager in the BD team. Since I was planning a trip out to the west coast the next week, we also decided to meet in person -- I also had a conversation with a VP during that onsite. Several days later, the hiring manager stated that they wanted me to take on a short-term consulting role with the organization to assess my capability to succeed in the BD role. I accepted the (paid) contract and began my work. After two months, I presented my findings to the LR team remotely, and at that point they decided to not offer me a position.

      Domande di colloquio [1]

      Domanda 1

I was asked a question pertaining to Einstein's Theory of Relativity. It actually was a lot of fun going through the discussion.

      Colloquio

I received a call from a LiveRamp recruiter approximately two weeks ago. I'm not sure how he found me, but I believe it was through a law firm search. I had an initial interview with the recruiter, Joe Glass. My second interview was with a business development manager, Kent Hall. Both of these men were extremely professional and provided good insight into LiveRamp's future. I would have been fortunate to work with either of them. I had my third interview with the head of partnerships, Eric Chernoff. This interview was initially scheduled for last week, but was rescheduled (after the scheduled call time) for yesterday. For some background, the company was acquired between my second and third interviews. Eric called me well after the scheduled interview time and did not initiate conversation (e.g., the interview started off with him saying "hi," and then a LONG silence after our quick small talk). Having interviewed a lot of people, I couldn't believe I was the one directing the entire call. It was apparent from the outset that (1) LiveRamp was changing their hiring model in light of being acquired and didn’t want to cancel an already scheduled interview, and/or (2) Eric had decided he didn’t want to hire me, based on my background/resume, before we had exchanged words and should have politely declined to continue the interview process. I wasted over 30 minutes of my time (i.e., approximately $175 I could have billed a client). I am shocked someone that carries himself the way he did has been elevated to a management position at LiveRamp. He is not someone I'd care to work for, and I question LiveRamp's judgment for promoting him. Today, without any surprise, I received a polite email rejection stating I was not a good fit. Based on my call with Eric, I couldn't agree more. If anyone at LiveRamp reads this, I recommend you either remove him from the hiring process and/or kindly notify people that the process should end before wasting their time.
