The first interview is pretty simple, mainly asked about big data process.
The second interview asked about 2 out of 3 or 5 out of 8 for free-throw problem.

2 out of 3 or 5 out of 8. They need to know the very detail answer why you choose one other than the other.

Colloquio
An email was requested to summarize a data science project that I worked on and in the past and what tools were used.
Next was an HR phone interview which mainly wanted to know about my background and interests.
It was followed by a technical phone interview with their "Lead Data Scientist." They discussed what they were working which sounded very vague and not data science related. They asked about my past work and interests.

In a file containing an integer on each line, explain how to determine the median and estimate the time complexity.

First a phone call to set up a technical phone interview, then a technical phone interview, which was actually very brief and mostly involved me talking about my background with previous data projects. Finally was the on-site visit day which consists of 4 1:1 interviews with almost all (except for one) with software engineers, which was novel for me in interviewing for DS roles. They were very nice and, though the on-site visit was a bit disorganized, I could tell they wanted to and tried to make it work though ultimately I wasn't compatible with the role. I got the sense this role at LiveRamp leaned towards the software programming aspect of DS, and not as much the data analysis aspect.

Tell me about a research project you worked on that dealt with data?
Write a program that takes an array of bytes and outputs the i-th bit of each byte, with each byte of either length 1 or 2.
How would you count the number of friendship degrees separating any pair of actors?
How would you decide between 2 bets?
Some problems regarding minute samples of actual LiveRamp data (highly privacy protected) and what metrics you would use to answer certain questions of interest using the data.

I was contacted by HR and had a phone screen covering basic information: what do you know about LiveRamp?, are there any questions you have?, etc. Later HR set up a phone interview with a more technical person on the team, and told me the interview would cover algorithms and logic. I think the thing I would take away from my phone interview experience is that they are looking for more of a data engineer than a statistician. I was not asked anything related to stats, probability, or even general math. I was not asked about algorithms for fitting models. I was asked more of a data structure type question.

Given a data set how would you count all unique entries? What is the complexity of your solution? What if the data set were really large?
