      Colloquio

In my experience, I have not seen a more inefficient recruitment process. I applied to the role online and first received a rejection email. Then I received an email asking me to schedule an interview. The first round was a 30-minute phone interview with the senior recruiter, which lasted less than 10 minutes. He read out questions to me and did not attempt to make the conversation seem organic. He then scheduled an interview with the hiring manager, who was nice to talk with. They then moved me forward. The junior recruiter emailed me to schedule four 45-minute interviews. I did that and asked her what the nature of discussions would be. She CC's the same senior recruiter mentioning he will be able to give me a response. He doesn't respond for 48 hours; I send a follow-up. Still nothing. Dead Air. One day before my actual interview, the junior recruiter changes the 45-minute interviews to 30-minute interviews—no email mentioning why the change. I don't accept the invite. At 7 PM EST, the senior recruiter asked me if I had everything I needed for tomorrow's interviews. I say I don't. He seems very surprised and repeatedly asks me if I am sure we did not discuss the interviews. He then proceeds to read the job description to me literally. At this point, this has become a circus. I ask him why the interviews changed from 45 minutes each to 30. He acts surprised that it changed and says he is not sure why the change, but it is what it is. I was also supposed to be talking with him for 5 minutes after the interviews and he said he had a conflict at the time and so won't be able to make it and we can connect over the phone if we need to. At this point, I have lost interest in continuing the conversation with this organization, but it was too close to the interview time to cancel because my interview was scheduled for 12:30 PM the next day. On the morning of the interview, a completely different recruiter I have never spoken to before calls me to tell me that something with this role has changed, and they are canceling the interview. She says she is calling because the other recruiter is in a different timezone and she was in the same time zone as me and wanted to inform ASAP. After a while I also get a call from the first recruiter who apologizes for the confusion. I appreciate the calls and apology but do think their whole process is very messy. What a disrespectful and unnecessary experience. And to think one of their values is "Respect people and respect time"!
