      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto 3 settimane. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Lumencor (Portland, OR) nel mese di ott 2015

      Colloquio

I applied online, through a job board, for the position of IT Support Engineer. Within a few days, I received a call from Lumencor's HR. I was asked (with little notice) to come in on Friday morning for an interview. This was on Wednesday afternoon. Seeing as I was coming from out of town and had a day job I had to continue, I asked if there was any way to schedule the interview out a few days so I could prep not only myself, but allow notification to my, then current, employer that I would be taking a day off. I was told that it was VERY important for me to come up on the day that I was asked, because, "the hiring group really disliked (their) only other candidate for the position, and loved my resume". I was told I'd receive a call back the next day by 10AM informing me about the time for the interview on Friday. I received a call, only after the deadline was missed on HR's end, and after I emailed and left a voicemail regarding a response. I was informed that they couldn't change the time. I told them that I'd be there, since I did not wish to lose the opportunity. When I attended the interview, I met with the VP and had a brief 15 minute interview. I was then shuffled off to a conference room where I waited for 15 minutes, and then met the president of the company. We discussed the IT setup for the office, what was needed, what the position would be, and what skills I would bring to the company. That interview lasted about an hour. The HR Manager then arrived and asked me to fill out a physical application for the position, and asked if while I filled it out if I'd mind waiting to speak with their IT Consultant for an interview. I agreed to fill out the application and wait. I ended up waiting for almost an *hour* for the consultant to arrive. After that interview was done 90 minutes later, I realized that I had been in their office for 4 hours. I met with the HR Manager after the last interview and gave him my application, and he told me he'd be in contact with me. I thanked everyone and then left. About 2 hours later, I received an email asking me to fill out a spreadsheet regarding task timetables, so I called Lumencor's HR for clarification. I was told, "Whenever we hire someone, we want to bring them on with the proper tools and expectations of what they can accomplish... This will show you what we estimate for the outlined tasks. And we just want to know if they're feasible or not." I then asked if they had any other questions from the interviews earlier in the day, and was told me point blank, "No, everyone was quite pleased! You did *really* well today." I appreciated that and said I'd get the spreadsheet back to them before the end of the next day. I filled out the spreadsheet to the best of my ability and gave notes for changes. I emailed that in to HR, and received a reply back that I'd hear no later than Wednesday of the next week. I gave my thanks, and awaited a response. I heard nothing by the deadline he had set, but I held off contacting him so as not to be a pest. But when the next day rolled around, and I hadn't heard anything by noon, I reached out with a quick email asking if there were any other questions that they had or if I could clarify anything. I received no response. The next day, I decided to reach out in person. I got HR's voicemail, and simply asked if they had an update. I received no phone call back. I didn't want to be a bother, but I did want to be persistent to make sure they knew I was interested. Over the next three weeks I sent another email, and left another 2 voicemails. I heard absolutely nothing back, not even a note informing me the position had been filled, or that they had rescinded the search, or that they felt I wasn't qualified. Their HR had gone into complete radio silence. Evidently, I wasn't important enough to merit a courtesy response. I still do not know what happened, if I failed the interview for some reason or if the position disappeared. But I find it EXCEEDINGLY rude that I was not contacted after I had reached out a number of times. But for them to treat me as if I didn't even deign a response, is just bad business and as I said, rude. I'm surprised how they stay in business if they treat their clients and other hires this way. I think HR grossly mishandled the situation, and I warn anyone else having to deal with Lumencor to heed my warning that this may occur for you if you apply to a job there: Completely unprofessional, and lacking simple decent mutual respect for candidates time and energy. Avoid at all costs.
