Applicants were encouraged to apply with super creative resumes, some people made very colourful cv's , poems etc. I was called a couple of days before the interview (which was conducted in the evening after hours), I was also told to bring something that "Meant something to me" to bring to the interview (obvs, this was going to be a sales pitch type thing) .
The interview I attended had 14 other candidates and we firstly participated in an introductory circle, where we had to talk about ourselves and describe what "Lush Product" we'd be and why, it was obvious they were looking for people who knew their products and had the ability to use emotive language plus demonstrate an outgoing personality.
We were the broken into three groups and had to do group activities one involved selling a product and testing it out on your fellow candidates, I recommend that you get hands on.. a lot of people used bath bombs, body creams and dusting powders. If you have to do this think Features and Benefits ( You need to be quick on your feet), massage creams into hands, get people to feel and hear bath bombs in water. and also try to use emotive language. The second task involved discussing our "special objects," tbh I think some people were a little to narcissistic in this section "This thing is special to me because it's mine" rather than listing benefits and features, the back story behind an item is excellent but think about why someone else would want it???
The final task involved putting together a package for a celebrity (or in this case characters from novels and movies) Harry Potter and Darth Vader were the characters our group was given. So we had to relate our character to the products, again this was a quick on your feet and creativity test as well as knowledge of products.
Over all I was quite pleased with how I went but the competition was pretty tough (all the candidates were truly lovely), and I believe my product selection for the sell and demonstrate section was ultimately my downfall (I used a body spray) I wish I had used a masque and toner or scrub and cream to show the physical benefits of the products. We were told there were only two positions available and those who were selected (6 candidates would need to do a paid work trial) to determine the two positions) I must say I was a little disappointed that for all the effort candidates were putting in we were only being offered 3hrs per fortnight of work anyway. (Although the shop will be expanding later on down the line, so one hopes those selected will gain more hours)
