      Colloquio

Two words to describe this interview process: pushy and intrusive. I applied for the role and received a response the next day to schedule a phone interview. The interview went really well, and they told me that they wanted to meet with me ASAP. I told them that preferably I could come in the next morning. They insisted that I come in within the next hour. It seemed like they really wanted to hire someone and I didn't want to miss out on the opportunity so I hung up the phone, got dressed, and rushed out the door to get there on time. It seemed really pushy but at the time I didn't mind. While I'm on my way there I receive a text AND email of them pushing me to complete a personality test before I get to the office....ok....sure whatever. I completed the test and sent it over. I get to the office and they take me out for coffee. I was interviewed by two people, and I thought it went really well. They seemed like nice people, and the role sounded perfect with opportunity to learn new things and grow within the company. The interview was on a Tuesday; they told me that they would let me know by Friday whether I got it or not. They asked for a reference which I provided. They also asked me several times if I wanted to try out the service, again which I obliged. Thursday afternoon, I randomly receive a call from the manager. She tells me my interview went really well, that I seemed qualified for the job, and that my reference was amazing. So......that means I have it in the bag right? Wrong. The call was a 20 minute interrogation on why I left my previous employer. Just to give you a little background: My previous employer is somewhat of a larger competitor of theirs providing a similar service. I was there for almost 2 years, I put in my two week notice, and I left there on really good terms. She thought it was weird that I decided to leave, and was completely judging me on my decision. She then proceeded to ask all of these questions about management, if they were replacing me, and a million other highly intrusive and unprofessional questions. It's almost as if she was fishing for information on a competitor's company which I was not going to do. I don't think any of it was her business, and I have never in my life been interrogated like that. Every other interview I have been on when I state my reason for leaving they all say "that totally makes sense" and they move on. It was very bizarre. I felt like I wasn't being judged based on my ability to do the job, or if I was a good person or not...I was solely judged on my decision to seek a better opportunity for myself. I get off the phone with her and an hour later I randomly receive a writing assignment, which I complete and send back. Friday comes around..which is the day that I was supposed to hear back and I didn't hear anything. Then Monday...still nothing. Finally on Tuesday I reach out to them requesting for my credit card information to be removed from their system (since they wanted me to sign up for the service). I then receive an email of them confirming my request and telling me that I didn't get the job....yeah...I know since you didn't have the decency to reach out to me when you were supposed to. Based on my experience as well as the reviews posted, it looks like I dodged a bullet.
