MIT media labs contacted me after I applied online. I was extremely surprised that they even considered me. I thought I was fortunate to get this response from them. I was scheduled to talk to a staff member from the lab from the biological side. She spoke to me and asked general questions about my PhD, my interests, computer vision and machine learning. I did OK and I didn't expect a callback as a result.

The process is very clear but it might depend on the PI. First one-on-one interview with the PI. Then you need to present your research work to the lab. Finally discuss with lab people in one-on-one.

Contact hiring professor, and interview directly with professor. Questions are based upon the current needs of the project. Employment is determined based upon the qualifications of the individual and fit in the group.

Virtual interview for 30 min, including a short presentation, PI was very friendly. Got an email offer after I followed up in the third week.
I found the position by direct emailing to PI.
