      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite segnalazione di un dipendente. La procedura ha richiesto 3 mesi. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso MKS Instruments (Irvine, CA) nel mese di mar 2022

      Colloquio

I was referred by an employee who knew that I had been doing optomechanical engineering but that in my current role I was doing mechanical with a lot of document control. I spoke with HR, and she was very vague about the title and level. I thought I was applying for a senior optomechanical role; however, she was trying to put me into a different role it seemed. I had an initial phone screen with a bright but inexperienced engineer, who did not seem to understand the technical aspects related to the job. After about 6 weeks, another HR represented contacted me to set up an interview with a hiring manager. That manager called me late from his car, and I could barely understand him. He seemed to be interested in hiring me, but he could not understand why I wanted to do opto-mechanical when they had more need in other roles. I pointed out that the whole reason I was interested was this aspect.

      Domanda 1

Was the first position listed on your resume, your first job?

      Domanda 2

Clearly, you are older than you appear on your resume, what are you hiding? Where else did you work and for how long?

      Domanda 3

I do not understand why you won't just answer the question. How long were you in the Army?

      Domanda 4

During the call with the "manager". I understand that you are only interested in opto-mechanical engineering roles, why?

      Domanda 5

Hiring Manager: I understand that you were not a traditional student. We are having difficulty hiring younger people as all the FAANG companies are hiring them. The opto-mechanical position was not really created for someone like you, so we want to know if you would consider a mechanical or possibly a role more in the manufacturing area.
