Colloquio
I applied online for a part-time job with Macy's Price Change Flex Team. A week later I received an e-invitation to set up an appointment for the interview. I had to schedule the appointment on-line. When I logged in to the Macy's site to schedule the appointment, I received a message saying there were no appointments available "at this time" and advised to check back "frequently". I ended up "checking back" every day for 4 weeks. I was finally able to schedule the interview and I was offered only one day and time.
The interview was in the HR department at the store. When I arrived I was handed a form to write in my availability (days and hours). I wrote that I was available M-F 5a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday if there is an urgent need. I thought this was generous on my part since in the job posting Macy's asked for someone available early mornings a few days a week, usually Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
I was interviewed by a woman that was apparently a lead or supervisor for the department where I would work. She wore casual clothing and some kind of "apron" with pockets. We went into a tiny room with only enough space for a desk, her chair, and my chair. I handed her my resume. She asked me to tell her about myself and then asked why I wanted to work for Macy's. She then told me that I was very professional and thanked me for coming in. In essence, she cut the interview short. I've been around long enough to know when that happens. I knew walking out that I was not going to get the job.
A few weeks later I received a letter from Macy's telling me I was not hired because of my availability. What? I had made myself available to them for more days and hours than they requested for the positon.
So...I can only guess at why I was not hired. (Overqualified, the supervisor felt threatened by my experience and background, I said something she didn't like, she planned to hire her sisters son???) I'll never know why they didn't hire me. I just know it wasn't for the reason they gave me.

Domanda 1
Why do you want to work for Macy's. (I was only asked 2 questions. Neither was difficult to answer)

Colloquio
I applied online and received an email with an invitation to interview. I prepared by reading their website that consisted of much information on their mission, values, employee training and expectations. During the interview, I was asked probably ten questions. The questions I remember were: why do you want to work here? Describe a time you received great customer service, why was it great? Have you had sales experience and describe how you were with customer service? Explain how you were part of a team and your role in the situation?
