One full day of interviews that were conducted round robin style. Each interviewer held a Senior Vice President position within the company. Interviews were a minimum of 30 minutes in length and up to 60 minutes long. Questions were geared to determine candidates leadership style, personality, work ethic & habits and personal view regarding service excellence. I was an internal candidate that was labeled as 'promotable' in my previous annual appraisal. The Regional Vice President partnered with my General Manager to initiate the process. There was a week and a half window given to me to prepare for the interviews. My preparation consisted of shadowing and coaching existing Assistant Store Managers who previously passed the round robin interview process. The Assistant Store Managers that I chose to prepare with, were highly regarded Assistant Store Managers within the company. The two individuals that I chose are currently with the company. One is a Vice President Store Manager and the other is on the bench to be a General Manager. I would advise anyone who may be planning to interview for a senior leadership position at Macy's to have a sound understanding of the service and selling culture at Macy's and what they as a leader in the company would do to increase and maintain customer service excellence.

Pleasant atmosphere. I was in a room with 3 people asking me about my experiences. The usual questions that one might expect. They were open and honest about the expectations etc.
