Interviews consisted of an initial zoom call, followed by a writing task, and a final in-person interview. I made it through to the final stage, but did not receive an offer.
Being completely transparent, I was unfortunately relieved to not be offered the job. The position (copywriter) was detailed and presented in an uninspiring manner, with the advertised work aligning more closely to shifts at a clickbait mill than meaningful advertising. I was second-guessing my application throughout the process, as the company's general approach, products and vibe felt very ethically dubious. The work seemed to mainly consist of taking advantage of naive or vulnerable consumers, maximising click-rates rather than focusing on quality or long-term goals.
The in-person interview felt distinctly unprofessional, and I had a similar experience to other reviewers regarding tone and a lack of company confidence. There was minimal effort put in on behalf of Malaberg to sell the role to me, and as a consequence, I felt that had I taken it on I would have stagnated in a pool of draining and morally bankrupt work. None of the company's brands or their vision was discussed, which I feel would have been a bare minimum at that stage of the process. My interviewers were, as others have said, evidently young and inexperienced.
My advice would be to find a company with greater stock in the quality of their products and wellbeing of their staff. If you're applying here, you can probably do far better than churning out clickbait headlines for hours every day.
