In the interest of "demographics" they also ask regarding sexual identity, ethnicity, and disability status. While those questions do have a "prefer not to say" option, the nature of the application questions leads me to believe they're looking for a very specific "type" of person, e.g. white, young, tech-savvy male. Common with start-ups. I closed out the app and moved on.
