- HR screening call
Applied via Linkedin, then the same day got a "Technical Recruiter" called Lucy.
The appointment times were all really late (for a UK role), which made me think they they might not have HR in the UK (or a more competent "Recruiter).
The call was going to happen using google hangouts. once the day came, I joined the call and the first question was "do you need sponsorship to to work there?" and "do you need visa, etc" which I was thinking if it was due to my accent (Spanish is my main language), but she said it was because they had "recent problems" with people applying and not having the required visa and I agreed and commented that "people applies from everywhere I suppose" (everyone has the right to apply, no matter at least is what I believe, is down to them to sponsor or not, if not stated in the role advert), please note, I'm British Citizen...
So anyway, my background in tech is over 10 years working in several of the biggest companies in the world and I'm proud of my what I have accomplished and the friends I made. When she asked me if I have anything else for the hiring manager, I stressed my experience to be the main focus.
She told me "Great, I will pass your application to the hiring manager" and "I will sent you the invitation, etc" that was Friday, Monday come and what I receive is a rejection email with no explanation or whatsoever, only "we will not move forward with your candidacy"
How do you decide who to move forward?
Does the hiring manager get's to see those "rejected" people or Lucy decide?
By reading some of the interviews reviews here I can see that is a "Normal" thing this people do, maybe the same "Technical Recruiter" who can decide who she likes or dislike... what you consider? Gender, Colour, "Accent", Immigration status?
