Was offered a position for a remote internship. I told that that I needed a few days to decide, because I didn't want to say yes and disappear on them. I called a few days later to say that I would be joining them, and all looked great. A few minutes after the phone call, I get an e-mail saying that they were taking a local applicant over me, after already having offered me the position.
