Interview by a HR colleague (female) and the Production Manager (male). Very informal and relaxed affair, I arrived suited and booted, this was unnecessary, the HR colleague was in casual wear, the Production Manager in factory overalls. The offices I was interviewed in were very tired, look like they hadn't seen a lick of paint since the 70s, office furniture terrible, the place just looked tired, worn and in need of some TLC, I guess these companies don't spend money on facilities or care about staff environment, maximum profit is king. Anyway, the interview was very informal, simple questions about yourself, what you knew about the company and why you wanted to work for them. This was followed by a factory tour. Well, if you like the smell of potatoes this job is for you. I could taste them never mind smell them, truly horrible. The tour lasted some twenty minutes or so, I was overalled out, hair netted and ear defended. The PM was talking throughout the tour but I didn't hear one word, this factory runs at about 120db, once your ears are protected it's hard to hear a thing. How anyone endures 12 hour shifts in that smell and noise is beyond me, it's punishment! Finally, I escaped and went home stinking of potatoes, I had to launder my clothes immediately and shower. The next day I was called and offered the role, I declined.
