      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite un selezionatore. La procedura ha richiesto 3 settimane. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso McD Tech Labs nel mese di set 2021

      Colloquio

I am an engineer from FAANG company and was approached by their recruiter as I am working on building a framework for Voice User Interface which is very relevant to them. I was not very keen initially to get interviewed by an unknown company. On being told about some exciting work, I thought I will give it a go.  Had a decent chat with the recruiter and hiring manager (ignoring the repeated problem with his phone line as he was out of the country).Next I was asked to have a technical screen with their engineer and recruiter mentioned the following:1st half of the call will be conversational and include a deeper dive into your background with questions around your experiences and projects you've worked on.The 2nd half of the call will be a short programming exercise, no special preparation needed, you will be working on some real-world problem solving. As soon as I joined the call, there was no greeting from the engineer, she didn't ask anything about me or my background, She asked to open the coding link to solve a problem, which didn't work out. She kept calling the recruiter in between the interview time and thereby making me lose focus. Finally when she could not connect to the recruiter, she told me to write in my IDE. It was a LC medium problem which I solved. She was not at all concerned about the quality of the code nor logic, but was concerned about the output only. I tried to keep her engaged, but she was not very keen. 10 minutes wasted because of the coding link not working and doing things on my IDE which is not efficient.  So 40 out of 60 minutes were spent on the first problem. By that time the recruiter sent a new coding link. As soon as I completed the first problem, to my surprise she gave me another problem which is leetcode dynamic programming with just 20 minutes left. The problem was unclear to me, she never made an effort to explain the problem. She told me she copied from the internet, and I should search on my own if I want to know more. This is the attitude of the interviewer. I work for a FAANG, and the least she could do is give respect to people's time. I myself take many interviews and we help the candidate to think out loud and bring out the best in the interview.I could have solved the problem if she was showing a little more professionalism. The recruiter messed up with the coding link and we wasted 10 minutes on these. Is 50 minutes a reasonable time to solve 2 problems? She was not at all cooperating and had a standard response of looking into the internet to find the answer. To summarize, I don't think they deserve my time in talking to them. They have untrained interviewers which does not convey a great message about the work culture in the company.
