      Colloquio per Management Trainee

      5 nov 2020
      Dipendente anonimo
      Atlanta, GA
      Offerta accettata
      Esperienza positiva
      Colloquio facile

      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite l'università. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso McMaster-Carr (Atlanta, GA) nel mese di nov 2020

      Colloquio

I submitted my resume to a McMaster-Carr posting on my university's job portal and received an initial call from a recruiter ~3 weeks later. On this first call, the recruiter just gave me some basic info about the company and the position, then she asked me if I was interested in pursuing the opportunity further. Once I confirmed that I was, she proceeded to ask me basic screening questions (why did you choose your college, tell me about your team-management experience, why would this position be a good fit for you). A few hours after that call, I received a follow-up email from the same recruiter telling me that she wanted to set up my final round interview. I received this email on a Wednesday and had the final round the following Monday. The final round started at 9:30 am and consisted of 5 different interviews (the day was done around 1:45). The first interview was a virtual tour of their operation (shout out COVID)- the interviewer didn't ask me any questions about the operation layout or anything crazy, he just gave me ample time to ask questions to measure my inquisitiveness. The second and third interviews were behavioral and didn't consist of any curveballs or difficult questions- pretty much just the classics (tell me about this experience on your resume, tell me about a time you changed your perspective, tell me about a time you overcame an obstacle, etc.) The fourth interview was just a casual conversation with two current managers- this wasn't as much an interview as it was a conversation about the job, why they chose it, what they like about the company and other such pleasantries. The fifth and final interview was another behavioral that just consisted of more pretty straightforward "tell me about a time" questions. All of the interviewers seemed pretty focused on the questions I asked and wanted to make sure I was tracking the info they gave me and asking good/smart questions about McMaster's business model and operations. There were very few technical questions about operations (one interviewer asked me how I might develop demand forecasts that would influence inventory quantity decisions). I'm a philosophy major (no true business/operational experience) and had no trouble with the technical questions- just a little critical thinking will do the trick in most cases.

If you were the owner of a sandwich shop, how might you make decisions about the type and quantity of inventory you keep?

      Colloquio

Incredibly drawn out and tedious interview process with 9 total “interviews” for the entire process, including 5 on the on-site final round. Open-ended questions about yourself and different processes/projects at the company.

Made it past phone call screening and had a one-on-one chat with a current manager before final round of interviews. Each round was 45 minutes to an hour long and questions were difficult. Have lots of examples ready. Have different answers ready for similar questions.

The interview process was absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. I really appreciated that the discussions were fully behavioral, allowing me to naturally draw on my past experiences. Furthermore, the company truly goes out of its way to treat you like a VIP throughout the entire visit, covering a remarkably nice hotel stay and providing a generous stipend to ensure you are completely comfortable.
