Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite l'università. La procedura ha richiesto un giorno. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Merck nel mese di nov 2009
Colloquio
I had one on-campus interview that I thought I did horribly in. I was asked a practical manufacturing question, where I was shown a picture of an apparatus that was malfunctioning, and I had to say how I would go about solving the problem. The interviewer also asked lots of questions about my experience, specifically my research.
I then had a plant interview, where I was flown out to Merck in West Point. There was an initial presentation. TAKE NOTES DURING THIS PRESENTATION. I was asked questions about which area of Merck I wanted to work for, and because I could not remember specific names of departments, my answer was weak. They also use a whole lot of acronyms for the different departments, so it might be nice to pick up those during the presentation.
Then we had individual interviews. There were seven interviewees, and we rotated between six interviewers, with one break period. It was tough having back to back 30 minute interviews, but the interviewers were nice, and it flowed pretty well. We all had lunch with some current Merck employees. Later we got a tour of the plant. Then we flew away.

Interview process was pretty general. Asked questions about prior work experience and how it can apply to the job. Be prepared to speak to your accomplishments, what lessons your learned, and how you can apply it to the position.

There interview consisted on one recruiter phone call and two interviews, one being with two people. It was pretty straight forward with the basic interview questions! Study those questions and you should be fine in the interview.

I had an initial interview with an HR recruiter, who did not speak English well, which made communication challenging. During this interview, I primarily explained my resume and answered a few behavioral questions. I was then advanced to a second round of on-site interviews. However, just three hours before the scheduled interview, I received a call informing me that it was canceled because the hiring manager decided to pursue a different position. This decision was not due to any issues with my resume or skills. This experience was highly unprofessional, especially considering I live several hours away from the site. It was very disrespectful of my time and effort.
