I attended a job interview for Meteorsoft Sdn Bhd. The hiring manager is rude, arrogant, unprofessional and he discriminate me because of my age.
At the beginning of the interview he ask me a question which is vague and I try my best to answer it and after that he said he only hired young people because of their creative thinking and people like my age can't think creatively which is false. So I refuted him by giving him an example of a 82 year old app maker from Japan who got invited to Apple HQ and shake hands with Tim Cook the CEO of Apple Computers (to illustrate that you are never too old to learn or achieve anything in life) and ask him how many youngster get to do that.
Then he reply, in the IT industry it's not who you know that matters. (It's not about who you know it's about your characteristic that matters e.g. perseverance and hardworking).
Suddenly he said in an angry tone,
"YOU ARE NOT YOUNG ANYMORE!, I AM TEACHING YOU NOW ,when people do not want to hire you, you should lower your salary expectations until someone is willing to hire you !, If you are 28 years old that I can hire you but at this age is better you find a low wage job ".
Another thing is whenever I ask for clarification on some of his question that I do not understand, he told me that I am not prepare and I am just expected to be spoon fed (in an angry tone) and he even said that I am lying to him when I told him that I do my own self studies on IT and business studies.
One point during the interview he raise his voice saying "I AM GOING TO CLOSE THIS POSITION!" before I can finish my question.
The hiring manager also told me that although he is older than me, his case is different because he have goals.
In the end of the interview he even said that all my self-learning is useless as no one will hire me if I do my own studies and say that "IF YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING WELL THEN DON'T LISTEN TO ME" (in an angry tone).
After that I file a complaint to the HR and till I did not hear any feedback from them.
