I went through two rounds of interviews. The first phone screen was a fantastic experience. The lady was very well prepared and maintained throughout the conversation a very positive energy. Definitely a person I would love working with. The second round was a disappointment. One of the persons came totally unprepared, while the other one had technical issues to connect. The first asked very poorly structured questions, and was out of questions 20 minutes into the interview. This person, tried to delegate the questions to the other, to cover for their own lack of preparation, but unfortunately, the other person's technical challenges limited their proper engagement in the interviewing process. In a more professional setting, it would have been more appropriate to reschedule the interview rather than try to improvise and result in a very poor experience. This was the very first time in my career that I did not even send a Thank you note after the interview, because I truly had nothing to Thank for. I have been through a lot of interviews throughout my career, and this has been the worst experience ever. Few weeks afterwards, I received an email from the unprepared person that I was not selected for the other round, even though this person was not the one who scheduled the interview initially. During the interview, I learned that they are looking for someone to help them out with standard operating procedures. I do hope they use this experience to adopt SOPs for interviewing and recruiting as they can learn a lot from it.
