      Colloquio

I originally applied for the Customer Success Specialist position and went through 2 rounds (call with recruiter, call with manager) and was then told the role had been filled, but I would still be considered for the Customer Success Manager position. I then proceeded to the peer interview where I was told was not "formally a part of the interview process" and would mainly be to go over a case study and ask questions. I was drilled on very technical questions that I did not know the answer to because I was not told to prep for that and I was also told that if I did not have coding experience or IT experience that I was at "a huge disadvantage", which was the opposite of what the recruiter and manager had told me during my conversations with them. After the peer interview I never heard from anyone at Mongo again, which is a really bad look. A bit disrespectful considering I gave a lot of my time over the span of about 6 weeks for this interviewing process.

Why Mongo? Why are you a good fit for this role?

I went through seven meetings in total, with the final step being a challenge interview. The process required a significant amount of time, preparation, and emotional energy. I understand that not every candidate can be selected. However, I do not understand why a company would take a candidate all the way to the final challenge interview and then provide no meaningful feedback at all. The lack of feedback after such a long and demanding process was extremely disappointing and made the overall candidate experience feel careless and disrespectful. This was honestly the worst interview experience I have had. I would not recommend it to other candidates. If you want to experience a long, time-consuming interview process with no constructive feedback at the end, then this may be the process for you.

Pretty standard interview process. The Senior CSM for the case study/peer round was perhaps the most unorganized person I ever spoke to. She asked questions that made no sense whatsoever. How about having actual organized CSM’s for the peer interview round. Didn’t end up getting it I guess due to the awkward peer round.

Overall, the process was super thorough and my experience was positive. I was reached out to by MongoDB. It started with a recruiter call, then the Hiring Manager, a technical peer interview, second peer interview, then a final challenge. I heard back within the same business day after each round and the team was extremely helpful throughout. I know it sounds like a lot, but you will leave knowing exactly what the job is and knowing whether it’s going to be a good fit. All in all I thought the process was very smooth and mutually beneficial.
