This is a very small school, overrun by toxic, entrenched faculty. Unless you are extremely desperate and enjoy being video recorded without your knowledge and consent, you may want to reconsider this school. On a campus visit to Moravian University for a Business School faculty position, I was video recorded by faculty members without my knowledge or consent. Pennsylvania is an all consent state. These faculty members then (by error) sent me the illegal video they made. Displaying even greater ineptitude, they also sent me the illegal recording of another candidate from a completely different search, who was there the same day I was. This candidate was also never informed he was being recorded. In addition to breaking state wiretapping laws, this school engaged in a data privacy breach by sending me this other person's video and information. In the recording they sent me, which contained a segment of video footage before I entered the room, a group of 3 faculty members mocked me before I entered the room. Then they mocked their students. This was all done in a highly performative, toxic, and extremely unprofessional manner. I was shocked by how obnoxious they were; in addition, they were wrong. I wrote to them as restrained as I could and politely told them that I had received this video. I pointed out that their statements (mocking me) were based on misinformation, and I explained their error. Their response came days later in an email full of typos, deflecting everything that had occurred. How this faculty behaves behind closed doors is very different to how they behave face-to-face. Beware of this inauthenticity. Hopefully knowing this helps someone. It would have saved me a trip to Pennsylvania. Weird dynamics between the faculty and students, even beyond the mocking in the video, including: the dean quite viciously yelling at a student to get out of her office; the student looked like she was going to cry. A junior faculty member stated she was scared of students, when the technology doesn't work, because they all yell at her that they're paying to hear her speak. A business school that's run like a State Hospital, yet even that would be more pleasant. This is a highly toxic environment, where severe toxicity appears to have been normalized for years and is highly protected. Entrenched faculty, a backwards and outdated curriculum, obtuse, unethical people; recording people without their knowledge and consent, yet lacking the intelligence and sophistication to not send the illegal videos to those they secretly record. No moral compass.
