      Colloquio

      I recently interviewed for the Communications Strategist - Political Participation role, and unfortunately, my experience raised several red flags. The initial contact was through a staffing agency, which described the role as a full-time, permanent position. However, during my interview with the company, it became clear that the role was actually temporary, with no clear pathway to a permanent position. This inconsistency between what was communicated by the staffing agency and what was discussed in the interview was concerning. The interview itself was brief and lacked the depth I would expect for such a significant role. Despite the feedback I later received, which claimed that my lack of direct experience with press management and press releases was the reason for not moving forward, the topic of press releases was never brought up during the interview. I have a transcript of the conversation as evidence of this. This suggests that either the interview wasn’t conducted thoroughly or the feedback didn’t align with the conversation. Additionally, when I sent a detailed follow-up email with important questions about the nature of the role and the potential for it to become permanent, the response I received was vague and avoided addressing my concerns. The company stated that they would only respond to my questions if they decided to move forward with my candidacy. This lack of transparency further contributed to a sense that the role, and possibly the organization, may be disorganized or unclear in its communication and expectations. Overall, the process felt disjointed and unproductive, with key role expectations either misrepresented or not discussed thoroughly. I appreciated the company’s decision not to move forward, as it became clear through the process that this was not the right fit. However, the experience left me feeling that there are significant areas where their interview and hiring process could improve, particularly around transparency and communication.
