Approached by a well known recruiter and had an initial phone based discussion about the position.
The interview was ok at best. The entire team except the shift manager i believe was on the interview call without their cameras on which made the whole experience extremely uncomfortable and distracting. A typical CV discussion was followed by some situation based technical questions around the use of Linux and Networking. I don't understand what asking me whether i liked coffee or not was supposed to achieve except maybe a subtle way of asking whether i liked to regularly ingest psychoactive substances. It was immediately clear throughout that they didn't read my CV or cover letter beforehand and just cherry picked random discussion points on the spot. I also had to correct them on my CV timeline as they assumed without checking i had an employment gap.
I also wanted to show them examples of scripting work that i had done previously. The hiring manager then said "maybe another time" and then proceeded to ask me what i was passionate about. When someone dismisses an opportunity to hear about someones passions so carelessly in such a way, that's an immediate red flag.
After the interview i didn't bother following it up because i knew this wasn't an organisation or team i wanted to work with.
