      Colloquio

      My interviewing experience was very much like the posted ‘Material and Process Engineer II’ interview there are definite similarities. There were three interviewers: one was a director, one was a manager, and the other would have been a co-worker. The director mentioned that the company is privately held and that the ownership is heavily involved so I think it’s safe to conclude that this behavior is driven from the top. I had a direction that I wanted to go but after my introduction and summary of my qualifications the manager took over with many questions almost all of which I enjoyed answering. When the co-worker began it seemed clear that this person was out to prove that because I had not worked in the same role in an aero-structures company before I was unfit for the job. This person drew conclusions about what I said and made statements that put me on the defensive about what I had said and my previous experiences. I new when I heard these statements I would not be hired I only wish I would have stood up and left at that point. I sometimes forget that I am interviewing the company as much as they are interviewing me. If you decide to interview there be sure to be ready for an attack that your experience is worthless and would be of little value to their organization. I believe this is the most negative interview I have ever had and I would rather be unemployed than work there. I would never waste my time with Nordam again.
