Colloquio
I applied online and was called for a phone interview a few weeks later. The phone screening lasted about 30 minutes, but it was obvious the screener had no idea what types of questions to ask, especially for an executive-level marketing position. When I asked simple questions, such as how many people work in the marketing department, the screener's response was, "I'll have to check with the CEO."
Then I was asked to take a series of online assessment tests. Be prepared to spend several hours on this process. The vast majority of the test appeared to be taken from a college marketing course. It asked lots of definitions about the marketing process, is this sample company in the lifestyle business or CPG business. None of the questions had anything to do with the actual marketing role. If they wanted to understand how someone would approach marketing NMA, then ask that question. Ask about previous campaigns, how it was planned and measured or how I would manage the marketing team.
Then it was sit and wait. I followed up with several emails only to be told I would hear back by a certain day. That day came and went. After waiting a few more days, I sent another email asking for a status update, and was told they would be in contact by the end of the week. I waited until the middle of the next week asking for a status update. NMA responded with a generic email saying they had "filled the need" for the marketing position.
Judging by the interview process, it's apparent NMA has no idea how to search for someone to fill a marketing leadership role. The questions asked - both on the phone and via the online tests - were extremely basic and in no way would inform the company how someone would perform in the role.

NMA does a quick interview with a recruiter and then had you spend 2-3 hours (yes hours) taking exams online. Then they select who they want to come in. The onsite interview was less than 30 minutes as they feel that their tests (which were similar to exams taken in college with textbook definitions) are their way of determining who is and isn't a good employee. The CEO has a unique personality and seems to be very proud. The interviewers could not really conduct a professional interview at all. In fact, it seemed to be a joke/waste of my time.
Personally for me, I never truly learned about what the position would actually entail, and received more of the vibe that they were so proud of themselves and could not really answer business related questions. I am honestly surprised they are able to keep their doors opened. I walked out of there knowing that if an offer was extended, that I wouldn't take it as I could not work for a company that cannot answer simple business questions or identify areas of improvement.
I am sure they are missing out on a lot of overly qualified candidates because they are relying on outdated testing methods and have zero knowledge in how to properly interview candidates.

I received a call from a recruiter, they sent me marketing tests and personality tests, then I did an interview with the Marketing Manager and CEO of the company. One interview only and started work 2 weeks later.
