I did an initial Teams interview with a recruiter. The interview lasted around 40 minutes. The second interview was with a hiring manager and a team member. This interview was over the phone and lasted around 30 minutes.

I had a quick initial phone interview then I was invited to a virtual interview. The virtual interview consisted of 3 Nationwide reps taking turns asking me questions. The main rep started the interview off by saying that this is a casual interview.. and yet the emails that I received from Nationwide prior to my interview made it seem like the interview was going to be extremely difficult, required studying, practicing of the STAR method, etc. So, I wasted a bunch of my free time everyday after work for 1 week studying in preparation for this interview.. just to find out that nothing that I studied was even going to be asked during the interview. No company history related questions, no nothing. They asked me job experience questions and wanted me to answer in STAR format. I thought the interview went well. My friend who works at Nationwide even sent a referral/recommendation for me to the hiring manager (prior to my interview, when I first applied for the job). I ended up receiving an auto-email rejecting me for the position.
This is a very entry level position and they’re severely underpaying for it as well.. I’m smart, I have a degree, I have years of work experience in a high stress, fast paced, difficult career field.. I’m not sure what more they’re wanting. This is a heavy phones position and you can’t even promote up until 1.5 - 1.7 years. So you’re on the phone taking back to back calls everyday and you’re expected to study to obtain licenses. The only person that this position would be good for is someone with extremely low living expenses. If I would’ve landed this job then I would’ve had to get a 2nd job just to stay afloat. Yikes.
Too much emphasis on the STAR method, too selective with hiring for entry level positions, and low pay.

Tell me about a time where you made a mistake at work
Interviewer was very nice and open about the job. It was a phone interview. Shortly after the interview, I received a callback for a job offer. And I accepted it
