Recruiter contacted me about the Travel Experience Agent job for TripActions new Atlanta virtual call center. Did phone screen interview and a customer service skills assessment. Next, back-to-back interviews with two managers. Easy interviews focused on background, work experience, and l behavior in different scenarios. Got verbal offers from both managers on the spot. Was told a recruiter would contact me later that day or the next business day with an offer letter but nobody contacted me.
Reached out to the recruiter who setup the interviews. No offer yet because, supposedly, they didn’t know if they could hire someone that knows how to use a different GDS than the GDS’ they use. This doesn’t make sense because the recruiters and both managers didn’t have a problem with me using a different GDS when I brought it up during interviews, said they would train me on how to use TripAction’s preferred GDS’, and gave me the job offer anyway.
Next day, recruiter said a decision would be made about giving me an offer letter within 24 hours. Nothing happened. After 24 hours passed, recruiter contacted me again, "as a courtesy.” to say a decision still hadn’t been made but, supposedly, they wanted an extra 24 hours to convince leadership to give me an offer letter.
Unsure what happened after the extra 24 hours passed because the recruiter ghosted me.
Thank God I didn't give my current employer two weeks notice or else I would be jobless. It is safe to say a bullet was dodged. If they are this deceptive, condescending. unprofessional, and emotionally manipulative (bait and switch and gaslighting) to prospective employees during the hiring process, I cannot imagine how awful it must be working there.
