I had a phone screen and then an interview. The following day after my interview, I was told they wanted to move me forward to the next round and I provided my availability for the next interview. While I was waiting to be scheduled for the next round, I received a phone call saying they were on a "very short timeline" and it was down to me and one other person and the position was filled. This is the first I heard of being on a short timeline, and the person I interviewed with said they had more people to interview and will get back to me by early next week. My interview was on a Thursday and by Wednesday the position was apparently filled. I don't believe they were being truthful about the situation and if they had someone already in mind for the role, I'm not sure why they had me waste my time interviewing to not even finish the process. Many companies have policies in place to ensure all candidates get the same treatment before a decision is made, but clearly this company isn't one of them and doesn't seem to care about having an equitable interview process.
