      Colloquio

Overall I found the interview process with O’Reilly to be unprofessional and disappointing. The company reached out to me for an "initial recruiter interview" via Google meet for the Strategic Program Manager position at their company headquarters. The recruiter was unprofessional in her dress looking like she had just come back from a yoga class. I was asked superficial quiz-like questions to test my knowledge of industry-specific acronyms, with barely any questions about my actual work experience. The recruiter showed disinterest and made no effort to define the acronyms or to clarify her questions, for example, "define the main components of a SOW”. While I was able to answer all questions with ease based on my background and experience in the field, there was no clarifying feedback in the event of conflicting acronym definitions across sectors. I doubt this remote recruiter was doing much more than reading a script. Following the strange quiz-like interview, I was informed that this recruiter would share my responses with the recruiter above her in the organization, after which there would be another two rounds of phone/video interviews before finally conducting an in-person interview at the headquarters office. I was promised they would reach out to me the following week, as the next recruiter would be out of office during the current week. The following week, I did not hear anything back. Another week passed before I followed up via email to check in on the process. I received no reply. One month after the initial interview, I sent one final follow-up to the interviewer, and still did not receive a reply. The recruiter/O’Reilly completely ghosted me, despite conducting a video interview and promising to provide me with the results of the interview in a week's time. I find this to be extremely unprofessional behavior, as one of the most basic expectations of a recruiter and their responsibility is to inform interviewees of the result of their interview, whether they are moving to the next stage or not. The complete silence, in addition to purposely ignoring my follow-up emails asking for a simple update to confirm if I am still being considered for the position makes it clear that this company either does not ensure its recruiters have the proper skills to conduct the job, or does not care to conduct itself in a respectful manner in general. Given the way I was ghosted, it seems I may have dodged a bullet with this company if this is how they treat their potential employees -- who knows how they treat their hired employees in that case.
