First, they keep you waiting almost 40 minutes–fine if you're a doctor's office, but it's a clear sign they don't value anyone's time. They give the Wonderlic test to people they plan on paying $15/hr. It was challenging and fun–just about the only enjoyable part of the process. Then the interview began and it was all downhill from there.
They advertised $15-20/hr salary but the interviewer said they start you off at $15/hr. I guess the "potential for growth" they mention is a bump up to $20/hr for web development which is still well below the national average. Honestly, they sound so desperate and stingy that I'm sure they will weasel out of that increase if possible. I only say that because the interviewer definitely showed his true colors and had no problem trash talking current employees, other interviewees, and telling stories of employees who just stopped showing up without notice or even contacting them to quit. Must be that phenomenal salary!
Then the interviewer asked if I might take on a project management role in addition to development, and possibly even mentor some of their more inexperienced designers/developers. All for $15/hr.
The final straw was when, after my first interview, they invited me back to "spend the day" in various roles doing work–FOR FREE! That's right, after giving an Wonderlic intelligence test they want to pull the wool over your eyes and have you work an entire day there for free, I guess to "try before they buy".
This place is a complete joke. Their website and web portfolio speak volumes, but just wait until your interview!
