First had a 15 minute phone interview with HR in central location (Atlanta). This was just me telling them about my experience and them explaining the job to me. An interview with the clinic manager was then set up. However, HR was in a different time zone and scheduled my interview time that we agreed on in their time zone and not mine. I am glad I caught this in the email. Attention to detail should be exercised better. In-office interview was interesting. Clinic was located in an extremely unsafe area of town. I was told there would be homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk when I get to the clinic every morning. There is a “security guard” at the door, but anyone can stay in the clinic lobby all day if they wish even if they aren’t a patient. Basic interview questions by manager and then physician came in and also interviewed me. She told me documentation is important and to never throw a physician under the bus when documenting. Asked what I would do if a patient told me she was rude to them. These 2 questions alone were somewhat red flags to me. Manager said sometimes the staff has to hunt down patients in the ER to do hospital follow-ups. This seems wrong on many levels and unsafe for staff. They also mentioned that the nurse is responsible for having appointments with diabetics and those with hypertension. The nurse would also manager their medications and educate these patients. I have never seen an office with this protocol. Nurses can educate, but it is the physicians job to prescribe and manage diseases. This was also not listed in the job description. The interview lasted an hour and I was told they had one more person to interview, but I would hear back from HR within a week regardless of if I got the position or not. It has now been over 2 weeks and I still have not heard anything.
