      Colloquio per Public Relations Associate

      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto una settimana. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso On the Fly Marketing (Rosemont, IL)

      Colloquio

Honestly the oddest interview process I've ever had. I applied for a position listed as "public relations." Upon entering, there were two other candidates waiting to be interviewed. I was first, and was asked about my strengths, one of which I said was writing. The interviewer replied that this was not a writing position (pretty strange for a PR gig) and asked if I had even researched their company. I had, but their website is very vague. So here's the entry level gig: it's a job where you give product demos at stores for clients. It's low paying - I think around $800 per month - and long hours. Then, you move up the chain of command and supposedly eventually manage teams of people who give product demos. The interviewer made this out to be a "it is what you make of it" job; harder workers will move up quickly and make more money. It's also commission based. So no, this is not an "events" or "PR" job as advertised. It's an on-site marketing, demo job where you try to sell products, largely beauty products. Needless to say, my less-than-enthused look after the interviewer was finally honest about the position meant I didn't get a follow up. Not that I wanted one. There were two more phases to the interview process (I know someone who made it to round two) and they involved spending hours on site.
