      Colloquio per Engineering

      27 giu 2018
      Candidato anonimo a colloquio
      Bedford, NH
      Nessuna offerta
      Esperienza negativa
      Colloquio facile

      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto una settimana. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Optics 1 (Bedford, NH)

      Colloquio

Afternoon interview, one-on-one with five separate individuals. Optics 1 dress code of the day included t-shirts, Hawaiian shirts, running shoes, and jeans with holes in them. First person was twenty minutes late - causing a cascade of confusion with all the other interviewers. All but one conversation interrupted by at least one cell phone call. New employees (1 year or less) appeared sincere to me while the older experienced employees were arrogant and condescending beyond belief. Majority of interview conversation was either about themselves and how great they were, or about how chaotic the company had become - no program management, no real technical guidance, and while they had a lot of "managers" and people who had been there forever there was in essence no leadership. Explosive growth has apparently severely damaged what was once a good place to learn and work. Very nice building (approaches Taj Mahal status), beautiful furniture, everything brand new, and a mammoth lobby filled with cliches written all over the walls - a bit of a bizzaro world. I thought the job description was unjustifiably broad, which included "travel expected", but intuitively it was hard to tell if this was a real interview of someone experienced in optical systems or just some sort of window dressing for the written record. Note that the recruiter is an independent contractor and not an employee of Optics 1. My recommendation is interview and DiSC profile training for the engineering department. Jeans and running shoes are fine, but the cell phone distractions and complaining about the lack of company leadership to a potential new-hire is not. Given the number of red flags, receiving the "thanks but no thanks" email 24 hours later was clearly a relief.

      Domande di colloquio [1]

      Domanda 1

First question (from all 5 interviewers): "So tell me about yourself."
