I had a chance to get in touch with my boss, who was also my postdoctoral advisor at a professional meeting. We had a brief chat there. Then I was invited over at OHSU to give a presentation of my doctoral research as an interview. It went very well.
The hiring process took a while because of all the background checks and to complete safety training to gain access. But I guess that is normal for many places. Mine took a little longer because I had to wait for me work permit to arrive.

Full day on-site interview. Did a presentation on PhD work. Back-to-back individual meetings for the rest of the day. Spent most of the time learning the projects in the lab.

It was a 1 day interview where I met with many faculty in the department and gave a seminar talk. During the seminar the faculty asked many questions. I also met with students and postdocs and they quizzed me on my research as well.

For a postdoctoral position the interview process was typical. I met the principal investigator first and talked about potential projects, secondly met individually with members of the lab, and third presented a formal job talk to group of invited departmental guests.
