      Initial screen with a recruiter going over background, then a take home technical assessment. The technical screen was a take-home 3-4 part exam on coderbyte. The first question was some binary tree algorithm leetcode question that I'm sure is practical to classroom software.

      Spoke to a number of great folks, but they truly don't know how to hire candidates. It amazes me when companies have people in tech with experience of 3-6 yrs interviewing others who are more experienced and done so much more - and yet they look at us like like we've got 2 heads. Criticize you not on the vastness of your overall experience and what you can add - but on a short coding session working on some unrelated task. Everyone thinks their product is this magical thing that you need a rocket scientist to work on. Heres the kicker - it isn't. The tech is the same. The code is just code. Hire people based on their passion and what they bring to the table instead of whatever nonsense criteria you used to reject them.

We have a highly collaborative hiring practice. Candidates who apply should expect to speak with leadership, as well as potential team members who bring a wide variety of experience and perspectives. The development technical exercise is very collaborative and does reveal more than just a candidate's direct technical skill set. This portion of our final interview helps the team identify a diverse range of talent. The selection criteria are high, but also consistent for our development hires.
