Colloquio
HR screening, then technical interview with the lead graphics programmer and CEO. The graphics lead seemed disinterested from the start, rubbing his head, looking down, and asking questions that suggested he hadn't read my resume. He was kind of roasting my resume, criticizing the lack of project links even though they were hyperlinks and questioning why I had no coursework listed. He handed off questioning to the CEO halfway through, though it sounded like he was trying to wrap it up and had already made a decision. When the CEO went through my resume, the graphics lead seemed surprised by one of my projects, confirming he hadn't read it beforehand (the title of the project was a dead giveaway as to what it was). He asked follow-up questions about that project once it caught his attention, but wouldn't have if the CEO hadn't been there to bring it up.
Side note: Felt like multithreading knowledge would have benefited me greatly in the interview. They have a video called "How to get a job in graphics programming" where the lead says they only hire people with master's degrees and haven't hired anyone with only a BS in the past 10 years for this specific role. In the same video, he says they don't care about Unity/Unreal projects, which was verified because both of them skipped over my Unity project.

Project Specific questions, What math classes have you taken? Have you done VR projects? What light model do you use? Shadow filtering? Have you done multi threading? Do you know what false sharing is?

There was a screening interview, I spoke to the hiring manager, then the CEO and leadership from sister companies, I spoke to the HR director who reduced the salary offering by about 20%, then the leadership of the company.

Domanda 1
A really strange and dysfunctional company. Reducing the salary offer was particularly wild—never seen that before. Then after me being accepting of all that, they used a BS excuse to not hire me. Don't walk, run away from these guys.

deceptive recruiting process imo: on their careers page, there were two roles with the exact same description but with different names for the roles. the first round interview started off with the recruiter making sure I understood which version of the role I applied to. they also mentioned that they are only hiring for one person despite having two roles listed? very confusing experience overall. I was also asked questions that had nothing to do with my resume. from what I understand, the recruiting process involves being a list of "standardized" questions to ask regardless of background. I would advise them to ensure that the recruiters understand who they are talking to by having an applicant's resume in front of them and to remove the deceptive recruiting process. I have never interviewed with a company that listed the same role under different names multiple times on their careers page before.

I know that we have two versions of this role on our careers page, but do you know which version you applied to? They're both the same role, but we're hiring for one.
