      Colloquio

Interviewed and received an offer, but the onboarding process was the worst I have ever experienced in my professional career - I was treated like a criminal. HR was extremely unresponsive to routine benefit type questions and when they did respond to questions, I was given either the wrong information or incomplete information almost every time. When I finally did get the information I was asking for (details about health plan for example) - I understood why HR was deflecting my questions - their best health plan that I was asking about was repeatedly represented to me by HR as a PPO, but it is not a PPO. Not sure why HR would want to misrepresent benefits to prospective employees?? - bottom line - the benefits are terrible. Instead of walking a prospective employee through the onboarding process and explaining the onboarding steps in detail and answering questions so an prospective employee would know what to expect (like all good companies will do), HR did the opposite - almost every step in the process was a surprise (terrible policy - no transparency). The prospective employee will be required to complete a surprise personality assessment, submit to a criminal background check, perform a urine screen for drugs/alcohol and pass a surprise "physical exam" which is administered by a Physical Therapist - instead of the expected MD, PA or NP (nobody in HR bothers to tell you this either). In addition, the Therapist will attempt to force you to divulge your medical history, which is considered Protected Health Information (PHI), which is not only outrageous, but against the law. And, the Therapist will refuse to tell you why he needs the information, what the company is going to do with the information and who will have access to the information. If you refuse to divulge your medical history, the Therapist will refuse to perform the examination and you won't get the job. A prospective employer (or their agent acting on their behalf) has NO right to see your medical history - that's private information between you and your doctor. (BTW - I asked repeatedly about what was going to be done/asked during the physical exam before the exam and was given the run-around again by HR). Most troubling of all, the prospective employee (again - without be informed about this by HR) will be expected to submit to a Nerve Conduction Study during the physical examination as a test for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. This is an invasive test with risk of permanent nerve damage - and should only be performed by a licensed neurologist (according to my physician, their consulting neurologist and American Neurological Association). According to the medical experts, a Nerve Conduction Study is only used as a last resort to diagnose nerve injury in patients and should never be used as an initial test for ANY nerve condition - including Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. The medical best practice recommendation for the testing for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome starts with 6 non-invasive tests and an examination by a physician. If the non-invasive tests are inconclusive, then the physician will order X-rays. I related this information to HR - they did not care. I offered at my own expense to have my physician conduct the physical and collect all the information they were asking for - with the exception of my medical history (again, which they have no right to see) - the company refused - so we parted ways. I'm not sure how this company realistically expects to be able to fill their open positions with senior professionals with their terrible HR policies and equally terrible treatment of potential employees and sub-standard benefits?? Based on my own personal experiences above, I'd highly advised anyone to not bother to even apply at this company.
