      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto 3 settimane. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso POWER Engineers (Lake Oswego, OR) nel mese di mar 2018

      Colloquio

After the initial application submission, I was asked to provide my responses to the following questions: 1, What is your primary interest in this position? 2. In summary, what do you do day-to-day in your current position? 3. What decisions are you responsible to make? 4. What do you look for in a Manager? 5. What type of work environment do you thrive in? 6. Have you ever Interviewed with POWER Engineers in the past? If so, when and for what position? 7. What is your desired salary/hourly range for this position. I was then scheduled for a phone screen with a gentleman that was very kind, but he quickly let me know that he couldn't answer any questions specific to the position itself. He was simply looking to get my answers and then submit them to the hiring manager. I was later asked by the phone screening gentleman when I was free to come in for a 1.5-2hr in person interview. I provided a date/time and didn't hear back for a few days. Only upon prompting them back via email did I get a confirmation email that my interview date/time was ok. There was no one at the front desk for the first 10 minutes that I was there. I had to press the "ring here" button twice before the front desk staff arrived. The interview started a few minutes after I was scheduled. The in person interview itself had 2 people in person who didn't introduce themselves and just quickly got the conference call going. The two people on the phone asked 95% of the questions, and only through the duration of the call did I understand what 1 of the 2 people physically in the room was there for (the other one remained a mystery). I would describe the interview as interrogation style as the person who would've been my manager started by saying, "You know I have your resume here and anything you put on your resume is subject for scrutiny and question"... which is certainly not a great way to start things... I quickly got the impression was that they had already formed some assumptions about me, and therefore it placed me in an uncomfortable position of feeling judged and potentially on the defensive. Where do you go from that? I just tried my best to answer the questions they had about my resume. They also clearly hadn't read my replies to the initial email as they were surprised by some of what I said, that was clearly addressed in that email. I never felt welcomed much less encouraged/enticed to work there; this was definitely a one sided interview: do we want you to work for us vs why you would want to work for us too...or even better yet, a more conversational tone interview vs. just a question battery about my resume's details. I also noticed that both of the people in person were watching the time closely, and I could feel some kind of pressure for time...I wasn't sure what was going on. It all screamed to me high pressure and lack of organization. I can't imagine who would want to work for them, I sure don't.

      Domande di colloquio [1]

      Domanda 1

-What is Power Engineers? -Why do you want to work for Power Engineers? -What IT projects do you do in your spare time? -Explain your experience with SCCM. -What do you know about mobile apps? -What does the phrase root cause mean to you? -We rotate on-call and sometimes we have to stay late when a crisis happens, are you ok with that? -The majority of the other questions were centered around the information in my resume.
