I was reached out to by a recruiter from PTC, to preface this review PTC is currently moving their HQ in Needham to South Boston so I was understanding between the times I was reached out to and the time it took to hear back from PTC on progress, especially as it was the holidays. However, the communication was sparse and I had to consistently do all of the follow ups with the recruiter. After my phone screening with the hiring manager, I was told I would be reached out to by the recruiter with a follow up date for a visit but this did not happen until a week later. Understanding that it was the holidays, I was given the expectation that I would hear back soon with expected dates for a visit. This behavior of setting expectations and not fulfilling their end of the bargain persisted throughout the entire process. After being give a date and time for the interview, I was told I would meet with a panel of people. Upon arriving, I was briefed that only one person from the panel could attend so the rest of the panel joined over the phone without visibility making the interview awkward. Towards the end of the interview I met with the hiring manager for the team and was then cut off before getting a chance to close up. I was walked out by the recruiter who told me I would hear back by that evening or the following day at the latest. After not hearing back from the recruiter for a couple days, I followed up to seek feedback or simply understand where I stood in the process, this email took place on a Monday afternoon after I interviewed on a Thursday afternoon. I then followed up once more on a Wednesday afternoon seeking feedback as I felt disrespected after taking an entire day off to come in and interview and then not hear anything back for a week when I was given the expectation of hearing back within 1-2 days. When I finally heard back from the recruiter, he gave me a short 2 liner that they decided to go with another candidate without giving any feedback on why. I thanked him for his time and requested further feedback but he failed to respond. This was a very poor experience because of the poor communication on the recruiters end and the false expectations that were given. I felt unimportant in the whole process and upset that my time did not feel the least bit considered and that I was not given the least thoughtful piece of feedback. Honestly, one of the worst interview processes I have ever been through.
